Coming soon: The Caves of Cape Coral, a ‘man cave’ place to store cars, big-boy toys

If Kevin Cloutier knew then what he knows now, he would not have built a customized, “man cave,” a garage that fits up to five cars, at his North Fort Myers home.

Instead, the real estate agent said he would have bought one in Cape Coral.

The Caves of Cape Coral are coming soon. Originally intended to be called “Man Caves of Cape Coral,” the business dropped the gender tag upon learning a woman would be its first buyer.

Designed at 1,250 to 1,480 square feet, they are about the size of a starter home. The “Caves” are basically glorified garages on the ground floor, large enough to park a recreational vehicle or, in what would have been Cloutier’s case, a trio of collector cars. Each unit also will have a loft, a customizable “play space” or “man cave” or “she shed” with a restroom, high-speed internet access, and kitchenette. It will overlook the garage below. The lofts account for about 30 percent of the square footage.

They range in price from $188,000 to $223,000.
